Bob Nichols, DVM, Partner

Dr. James (Bob) Nichols comes from a large family and a small town in southern West Virginia, where beef cow calf and market lambs were the family business.  He graduated from West Virginia University with a BS in Animal and Veterinary Sciences and an MS in Agricultural Education.  He earned his DVM in 2000 from The Ohio State University.  He started at Franklin Veterinary Associates in 2002 and in 2006 became an owner.  While Dr. Nichols practices both companion and large animal medicine he predominantly works with dairy cattle.  In addition, he owns and operates Total Herd Concepts, a dairy nutrition company.  Currently he resides in Waynesboro with his wife of 20 years and his 8 year old son.  He enjoys spending time with family, hunting, archery, shooting sports, football, and bowling.

Brian Martin, DVM

Dr. Martin is originally from Ohio and attended Ohio State University where he earned his B.S. in Bio Chemistry and then his DVM.  He graduated in 2007 and joined the FVA team that summer.  He became a partner in the practice in 2009. He lives in Greencastle with his wife Megan and pets Tilly and Lucy. In their spare time they enjoy hiking and rock climbing.

Kathleen McCloskey, DVM

Dr. McCloskey is originally from California and moved to Northern Virginia in 4th grade. She attended Stanford University and Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1987. There she met and married Rodney Bachtell DVM also class of 1987.  She has lived and practiced in Franklin and Adams county since graduation.  She has 3 sons, many pets and her most recent is Forrest Gimp, acquired as a puppy from a client.  She has been with FVA for 27 years.


Jonathan Burner, DVM

Dr. Burner is originally from Luray, VA where he grew up on his family's beef cattle farm.  He attended Virginia Tech where he earned a B.S. degree in Animal Sciences and Agricultural and Applied Economics.  Deciding to continue his education as a Hokie, he attended Virginia Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, earning his DVM in 2014.  Dr. Burner's interests include bovine reproduction, milk quality, internal medicine and surgery. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, golf, billiards, helping on his family farm, and Virginia Tech football and basketball.  He joined the FVA team in 2014.


Tom Liskey, DVM

Dr. Liskey attended Virginia Tech and earned a B.S. degree in Animal Science and then his DVM from the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. He resides in West Virginia with his wife Regina and they are expecting their first child in 2017.  They share their home with their 3 pet dogs. In his spare time Tom enjoys watching football, playing softball, and hunting.  He joined the FVA team in 2014.
